This project came into being with the objective of establishing a brand that both represented my experience as a first generation american born latina, who also grew up in Mexico, that refused to assimilate while embracing and adapting to the new surroundings of a foreign country.
‘COLOTI’ comes FROM COLOTL (MEANS SCORPION) AND which originates from THE UTO-AZTECAN LANGUAGE OF THE NAHUAS PEOPLE. WHEN CREATING THIS BRAND I WANTED TO DIG DEEP AND NOT ONLY REPRESENT MY ROOTS BUT ALSO MY EXPERIENCES OF the time I spent IN MEXICO.
Every fragment & detail of this brand is done with a purpose to give life to the treasured memories of exploring the ruins of Tepoztlan as a child, utilizing natural golden hour lighting was incredibly important to me because it reminds me of the sun-casted shadows over the pebbled streets of Mexico..
