THIS PROJECT CAME INTO BEING WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF ESTABLISHING A BRAND THAT BOTH REPRESENTED MY EXPERIENCE AS A FIRST GENERATION AMERICAN BORN LATINA, WHO ALSO GREW UP IN MEXICO, that refused to assimilate while embracing and adapting to the new surroundings of a foreign country.
The word ‘coloti’ comes from colotl which means Scorpion and comes from the uto-aztecan language of the Nahuas people. When creating this brand I wanted to dig deep and not only represent my roots BUT ALSO MY EXPERIENCES OF THE TIME I SPENT IN MEXICO.
Every fragment & detail of this brand is done with a purpose to give life to the treasured memories of exploring the ruins of Tepoztlan as a child, utilizing natural golden hour lighting was incredibly important to me because it reminds me of the sun-casted shadows over the pebbled streets of Mexico..
